Young Ambassador of the 21st Century

The District finals of the Young Ambassador competition were held on Sunday 10th January 2016 at the Hinton Firs Hotel, Bournemouth. The panel of judges had a very difficult task in determining the winner from the four candidates, but eventually announced that the candidate who will represent our District at next month's Multiple District Finals will be Rozanna Toomer sponsored by the Lions Club of Southampton Solent. Rozy will go to Dudley with the good wishes of all of us in District 105D.

Rozy Toomer Young Ambassador

Pictured here with Rozy are District Governor Alan Chapman and Lion Malcolm Carter.

My name is Rozy Toomer, I am 17 years old and studying A levels in Biology, Health and Social Care with extended project and Photography at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh, Hampshire.  I have applied to University to study Midwifery next year.  My college work takes up many hours, but I feel that helping in my community is important and I gain valuable experience.

I am an active member of the Scout Association and enjoy many activities such as camping, water sports, gliding and backwoods skills.  I have achieved my D of E Silver award and am working towards Gold.  I am also a Young Leader with the Cub Scout section helping younger children with scouting activities and running meetings.

I have volunteered at Down To Earth Community Farm in Southampton for over 15 years.  I help care for many different animals, fund raise and assist with Learning Disabled groups and children’s holiday activities.

Rozy follows in the footstep of her brother Jake Toomer who was our Young Ambassador three years ago. Both young people are a credit to their family and the community which they serve. We wish them both every success in their future careers.
